Syracuse Law Scholarships and Grants

Merit-based College of Law Scholarships are awarded to selected incoming first-year J.D. students during the admission application process.  All prospective J.D. students (whether US citizens, permanent residents or international applicants) are considered for merit-based scholarships.  Law Scholarships range in value from nearly half-tuition to over three-quarters tuition.  Some scholarships require students to maintain a minimum GPA.  See a summary of our scholarship retention statistics below.

Law students can use their merit scholarships throughout their full-time enrollment – even during the completion of a joint degree, resulting in the opportunity to earn both degrees for the price of one!

Merit scholarships are offered to continuing students who are ranked in the Top 20 of their class based on class rank at the end of the 1L year.

Law Tuition Grants help to partially cover the cost of tuition. J.D. students should complete the financial aid application requirements listed on the Financial Aid To-Do List on MySlice before the January 15th Priority Deadline for full consideration.  Need based Tuition Grants are limited and will be awarded until expended; prospective J.D. students should not wait for an admission decision before applying for financial aid.
