Katherin Nukk-Freeman is the co-founding partner of Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, PC. Employment Attorneys. Leveraging more than 20 years of success as a trusted advisor to corporate leaders, Katherin enables companies to proactively address and effectively manage workplace issues related to harassment and discrimination complaints, unconscious bias, disability and leave law, wage and hour disputes, social media risks, staff reductions in force, and high-risk terminations. Katherin works with human resource management professionals providing expert guidance and instruction enabling them to better manage and proactively address their training programs and many other employment law issues thereby avoiding costly litigation for their companies.

As a dynamic employment law training instructor and industry thought leader, Katherin partners with clients to develop and implement strategies to manage risk, comply with the law, increase productivity and create an overall better workplace. Katherin is a frequent presenter on employment law issues and has authored countless articles on current employment law “hot topics”. As a champion for forward-looking employment law solutions, Katherin is considered the industry leader on the subject of addressing “Unconscious Bias” in the workplace.

Prior to founding Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P. C., Katherin was a Partner at Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger & Vecchione, PC. in Newark, NJ and an Associate at Downey, Brand, Seymour and Rohwer in Sacramento, CA. Katherin received her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School and received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University. Ms. Nukk-Freeman is admitted to the bars in the State of California, the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Ms. Nukk-Freeman currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the NJSBA’s Labor and Employment Law Section. Most recently, Katherin has been selected to the prestigious Committee of 200 (C200) Protégé Program. C200 is a member organization comprised of the world’s most successful corporate leaders and entrepreneurs.

Katherin has been listed in New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine for the past six consecutive years as one of the “Top 100 Lawyers in New Jersey” and one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers” in the state. In addition, Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Law Firms, has listed Ms. Nukk-Freeman as a Band 2 attorney and one of the “Top Labor and Employment Attorneys in NJ”, for the past six years.

Kerrie R. Heslin has an expertise in employment and labor matters for management.  Ms. Heslin devotes a majority of her practice to the litigation of employment matters involving discrimination, whistleblower claims, wage and hour and benefits issues on behalf of employers.  She also handles counseling and litigation involving workforce reductions, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA HIPAA, and labor law issues.  Ms. Heslin also counsels clients on diverse employment issues, such as training, hiring and firing of employees, leaves, employment agreements, separation agreements and releases, restrictive covenants, employment applications, and policy manuals.  

She litigates matters in state and federal court and before administrative agencies (including state and federal EEO agencies and the Department of Labor).  In addition, Ms. Heslin handles all aspects of labor matters, including negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and resolution and litigation of grievances.  

Prior to joining Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P.C.  in 2007, Kerrie was a Partner at Carella, Byrne, Bain, Gilfillan, Cecchi, Stewart & Olstein in Roseland, NJ.  Kerrie also spent six years at the prominent Newark, NJ law firm of Gibbons, P.C.  Kerrie received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Seton Hall Law School and her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Syracuse University.

Ms. Heslin held a Federal Judicial Clerkship under the Honorable Nicholas H. Politan of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey.  She is admitted to the bar in the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.
