Reference Services
The reference staff is available from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday and 8:00am - 5pm on Friday, to assist you with questions regarding the services and facilities of the Library. The staff may not, however, provide legal advice or interpretation of the law.

You may contact a reference librarian by calling (315) 443-1792, or by completing a Reference Query Form.

  • Response Time - We will respond to questions received between 8:00am-7:00pm, Monday - Thursday within 24 hours. We will respond to questions received at any other time on the following business day.

  • Scope of Service - Reference staff will respond to ready reference questions, such as 1) verify case or statute citation, 2) locate an address in a directory, 3) check library holdings.

Reference staff will direct patrons to relevant electronic or print sources and offer guidance or suggestions for using sources. For complex research problems, you may need to meet with a reference librarian.

  • Referrals - If the reference staff cannot adequately handle the question, the patron may be referred to another library or resource.
