Orientation

The 2017 J.D. Orientation program will be Monday, August 14th to Friday, August 18th. All portions of this program are mandatory for all entering J.D. students.

When you arrive for Orientation you will receive a packet of materials that will include your personal fall class schedule, a copy card, your Syracuse University ID card (if you submitted your digital photo to Admissions), your locker number and other important information.


LL.M. Orientation:

The 2017 LL.M. Orientation program will be Monday, August 7th to Friday, August 18th.  All portions of this program are mandatory. LL.M. students are also strongly encouraged to arrive to Syracuse during the week of Monday, August 7th, in order to complete course registration and various other administrative details for incoming international students to Syracuse University. 


General Orientation Information:

  • Information for Families (directions, parking, opening convocation, reception, etc.)
  • New students should have received an email from Parking Services regarding purchasing your parking permit.  If you haven't yet done so, click here for parking permit information. Your pre-purchased permit will be in effect as of August 17th.  Parking Services will not ticket cars in the Stadium lot on the first two days of Orientation (8/14 & 8/15). 
  • (Optional) Student Activity: On the evening of Thursday, August 17, students will have the option to participate in an interactive adventure at 5 Wits located at Destiny USA, 9090 Destiny USA Dr., Syracuse, NY.  This is a 45-minute live-action entertainment event during which participants must use teamwork to solve a challenge. The cost for the adventure is $10 (cash only), which can be paid during orientation check-in on Monday, August 14.  To RSVP for this event please complete the 2017 Pre-Orientation Survey that was e-mailed to you from The Office of Admissions before August 1st. Your 5 Wits start time will be staggered between 5:45 – 6:45; we will confirm your assigned adventure time during orientation week via e-mail. 
  • Graduate Welcome Shuttle Service
    The Graduate Student Organization (GSO)
    will provide new graduate students with the Graduate Welcome Shuttle Service from August 1st - August 27th. The shuttle will welcome graduate students arriving at the Regional Transportation Center (train/bus station) and the Syracuse Airport, and deliver you to your residence or other destination. If you opt to use this service, you will need to complete a form (providing contact information and arrival details).
