Adam J. Katz L'04

Adam J. Katz obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland in 2001, and received both his Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law in 2004.  While in law school, he was a member of the Syracuse Law Review and served a term as class president.

Mr. Katz is an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York, where he prosecutes civil enforcement actions against those who commit fraud against the federal government, and seeks relief against those who violate environmental, health or safety laws.  He previously served as a trial attorney for four years with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where he represented the United States in trial and appellate courts in cases arising under the federal pollution-control laws.  Before he joined the Department of Justice in 2008, Adam worked as an associate for the law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he focused his practice on regulatory litigation and energy law.  Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in the Staff Attorney's Office.

Mr. Katz has been a member of the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association (SULAA) Board since 2006, and held several positions on the Executive Committee.  Adam was recently elected as President of SULAA and will serve in this role through 2014.
