Kathleen M.   O'Connor

Kathleen O’Connor has taught Legal Research and Writing courses for over twenty years at the law school. Between 2016 and 2022, Professor O’Connor also worked to develop, implement, and lead the law school’s online JD program, JDinteractive. She served as Executive Director for Online Education, Associate Dean of Online Education, and Senior Associate Dean of Online Education before returning to full time teaching in 2022. Professor O’Connor has served as Faculty Director for the Moot Court Honor Society and Advocacy program from 2015 to 2018. She also served as Acting Director of Legal Communication and Research Program during the Fall 2007 and Spring 2013 semesters. Professor O’Connor received the Meredith Teaching Recognition Award for excellence in classroom teaching in 2008 for the 2007 - 2008 academic year.

Before joining the College of Law in 2002, Professor O’Connor practiced both criminal and civil litigation. Upon graduation from Emory University School of Law, she joined Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle LLP in Rochester, New York where her practice concentrated on commercial litigation. She then joined the criminal division at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Professor O’Connor then rejoined private practice with Hiscock & Barclay in Syracuse, New York.
