Assistant Dean Denby has over 20 years of experience in managing information systems and network infrastructure. In his present position in the College of Law he has responsibility for Information Technology and Support Services, Student Systems and Administration and is the facilities manager for the College of Law’s home, Dineen Hall.
The Information Technology Services department has responsibility for information systems, web design and administration, client-server systems implementation and support, network installation and maintenance, database management, computer desktop support, work flow automation, computer technology training and technology research and development for the College of Law. The Support Services area provides mail, and copy services to the College of Law community.
Student Systems and Administration provides various services supporting the creation and maintenance of academic records for students and alumni of the College of Law including registration, examination administration, graduation certification, bar certification and various reporting functions for administrative purposes internally as well as for outside agencies and institutions.
In addition to his responsibilities at the College of Law, Mr. Denby has taught as an adjunct instructor in the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University; served as chair of the university’s Technology Leadership Council (TLC) from 2008-2010; served on the OnBase Governance Committee; and is currently a member of the Information Security Council as well as the executive committee of the TLC.
Mr. Denby is a past president of the board of directors for Onondaga Community Living, a not for profit agency that provides services to adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities within the Syracuse area and nearby communities.
Prior to coming to Syracuse University Mr. Denby worked in the banking industry where he served as Loan Operations Officer for a small regional bank. His responsibilities included securitizing mortgage loans for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, student loans for Sallie Mae and managing the resultant secondary market portfolios. He was appointed to the position Assistant Vice President and Director of Management Information Systems for the same bank and was instrumental in growing the banks wide area network from three branch locations to eight. Prior to that he worked in branch management and then served as Assistant Treasurer and Mortgage Loan Officer, and as officer in charge of loan servicing for a local Syracuse bank.
Mr. Denby received an Associates in Applied Science degree from Onondaga Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management and Technology, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Information Systems and Telecommunications Management and a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications and Network Management from Syracuse University.
