An Open Letter to the Class of 2019
Dear Class of 2019: Thank You!
Even though you left Dineen Hall only a few months ago, your legacy already looms large. Your participation in the Class Act! campaign was inspiring—not only to us but to the entire University, as the campaign once again set a new record for student giving. Each year, when results are announced, the College of Law shines brightly across campus. We are the beneficiary.
Our J.D. and LL.M. Class of 2022 represents 36 states and 28 countries. We speak a collective 25 languages, 34% of us identify as students of color, and 17 of us are veterans or active-duty members of the military. Twenty-nine of us are members of the inaugural JDinteractive online law degree program class—JDi has enabled us to pursue a legal education that would not otherwise have been possible, and it is truly life-changing.
As you know, philanthropic support is not only crucial to the success of the College of Law, it is a key factor in the decision to enroll in law school. The scholarships we received and the superior academic programs and experiential learning opportunities were determining factors in choosing Syracuse. Through your generous gifts, you have made a legal education possible for many of us, and you've help make it rewarding.
As you continue the busy and exciting new chapter of your lives, your philanthropic achievements while attending Syracuse may seem insignificant or a long-distance away. Please know the effects of your gift are enormous, many, and present. The example that you have set for those who follow in your footsteps is an important part of your legacy. Rest assured, the Class of 2022 will continue this proud tradition, and we are very grateful for your example.
We look forward to meeting many of you in Dineen Hall next fall during Law Alumni Weekend, or as interns and externs at your firms. Until then, all our best wishes, and Go Orange!
