Robert H. Mayer
Director, Office of Telecommunications

Robert Mayer is Director of the Office of Telecommunications at the NYS Department of Public Service. The Office is responsible for regulating the state's local exchange telephone companies and cable companies and supporting policy initiatives. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mayer was the lead regulatory practitioner in the telecommunications and cable segments at Bearing Point, Inc., an international consultancy with headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Prior to consulting, Mr. Mayer was a telecommunications policy analyst with the NYC Mayor' s Office and a staff attorney for the New York Corporation Counsel. Following an assignment with NATO Headquarters in Southern Europe, Mr. Mayer was a telecommunications officer for Chase Manhattan Bank and The Morgan Bank in New York. He has a MA from Central Michigan in Technology Management, an MBA from Boston University and a JD from New York Law School. He was admitted to the Washington, DC and New York Bar.
