Orientation for the College of Law entering class of 2013 will be held from August 19 - 23, 2013. All portions of this program are mandatory for all entering students. Classes will begin on Monday, August 26th.
When you arrive for orientation you will receive a packet of materials that will include the full orientation program agenda, your personal fall class schedule, a copy card, your Syracuse University ID card (if you submitted your digital photo to Admissions), your locker number and other important information.

Note - If you will be living in the Campus West apartments, you cannot purchase your parking permit online. You must download the parking permit application form and mail it in to Parking Services, clearly indicating that you will be living in the Campus West apartments. First year law students will be given 2 lot options - the Standart or Fine lots.
Permits can also be purchased at the Parking Services Office on Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th. No tickets will be issued during orientation week, August 19-23 to allow you time to get permits. View a campus map for parking lot locations here.

FOOD DURING ORIENTATION WEEK
Monday – A reception with hors ‘d oeuvres and beverages will immediately follow the formal Opening Convocation Ceremony at 5:30pm.
Tuesday – You will go out to lunch in your mentor groups; the College of Law will not be providing lunch on this day.
Wednesday – Lunch will be delivered for you on the 2nd floor of MacNaughton Hall and you will have lunch with your faculty mentor in small groups.
Thursday – A Panera Bread lunch will be provided for you during the “Healthy Living Lunch”.
Additionally, the College of Law will host a picnic dinner on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00pm at Drumlins Country Club, near the Syracuse University campus.
Friday – A boxed lunch will be available for you at the College of Law at the completion of your community service project.
*Please plan appropriate funds to cover all other meals during orientation week.
ATTIRE DURING ORIENTATION WEEK
Monday Evening - All students should dress in professional attire for the formal opening ceremony and reception on Monday evening from 4:00-7:00 pm. Women; dress or professional suit and Men; suit or a sport coat and tie.
There will be a class photo taken on the steps of Hendricks Chapel immediately following the convocation ceremony, just before you head to the reception on the Quad. Families are welcomed to attend the formal opening convocation ceremony and have received an invitation by mail detailing these events. Note that students and guests will sit in separate sections of Hendricks Chapel.
Tuesday Morning - Please plan to dress in business casual attire on Tuesday morning of orientation for the Alumni Break-Out Sessions, as this is an opportunity for you to meet in small groups with some of Syracuse Law’s most distinguished alumni.
Women; dress, skirt or dress-pants and blouse and Men; dress shirt and pants.
After the Alumni Break-Out sessions, you may be walking across campus to go to lunch with your mentors and will be sitting in the auditorium for the remainder of the day, so you may wish to put a change of clothes/shoes in your locker to quickly change in to.
Wednesday and Thursday - Comfortable attire is suggested for Wednesday, Thursday.
Friday - At Registration, you will be given a Class of 2016 T-shirt that you will wear for the Community Service Project on Friday. You will be working outdoors at a farm and may get dirty, so please plan to wear old pants/shorts and shoes.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU TO ORIENTATION
Lock for locker – you will be given your locker room location and locker number when you arrive for registration. Please remember to bring your own lock to be ready to use your locker on the first day.
Laptop – you will need to bring your laptop on the date your group is scheduled to attend the concurrent session that includes an online survey. Your student mentor will let you know this date during orientation.
Bag for books – pre-purchased books will be ready for pick up on Tuesday, August 20th. Remember to bring a back pack/bag with you to help carry these books if you prefer this over the box.
