Assistant United States Attorney

Adam J. Katz is an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York, a district that encompasses 32 counties in northern and central New York and spans more than 30,000 square miles.  In that capacity, Adam is responsible for investigating and prosecuting civil fraud cases brought to the office by government agencies and private whistleblowers, and initiating enforcement actions for violations of environmental, health, safety, and economic-welfare laws.  Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2012, Adam served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division in Washington, DC, as an associate in the DC office of a large law firm, and as a law clerk to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Manhattan.

Adam graduated cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law in 2004.  While in law school, he was an editor on the Syracuse Law Review, served a term as class president, and also earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the Maxwell School.  Adam has held various leadership positions on Syracuse University Law Alumni Association’s executive committee, and currently serves as its president.
