Alumni and Friends
Over the years, the College of Law has graduated many influential and successful lawyers, business professionals, and financial leaders. We are proud to count among our alumni members of the U.S. Senate and Congress, state senators and assembly members, state attorneys general, and federal and state judges. In addition, many of our alumni have moved into leadership positions in some of the world's largest law firms and into the fields of finance, real estate development, and international business affairs.

DC Externship Program – Host a Law Student
The Syracuse Law Semester in D.C. Externship Program is underway with 25 students living and working full time in Washington. Students are working in a variety of placements including federal agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and NASA, judicial chambers, nonprofit organizations, House and Senate offices such as Senator Gillibrand, and private entities including law firms and in-house counsels’ offices. In each of these placements, students work alongside experienced supervising attorneys, many of whom are alumni, to gain insight into the practice of law in D.C.
In addition to hands-on work experience, students participate in coursework designed to develop an understanding of how the law functions in Washington D.C. Students also have both formal and informal opportunities to network with successful D.C.-based College of Law alumni and other D.C. practitioners.
We hope to include as many College of Law alumni as possible in the D.C. Program. Alumni are encouraged to contact program coordinator Professor Terry L. Turnipseed at firstname.lastname@example.org to facilitate program placement opportunities for students or to host one or more of the networking receptions for participants.
A podcast series by and for the members of the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association, SULAA Speaks seeks to share the wisdom of College of Law graduates with current and future alumni.
