The H. Douglas Barclay Library strives to offer you the best in legal information services. A skilled and dedicated library staff, supported by numerous student assistants, will assist you in discovering, obtaining, and understanding the complex research tools of the legal profession. The library pledges to offer convenient and timely access to our information resources. We welcome your comments.
Document Delivery Services
The Law Library's Document Delivery Service offers fast, high quality duplication and dissemination of library documents via fax, email or print.
Westlaw by Credit Card provides instant Internet access to a selection of Westlaw cases, statutes and journal articles. Registration is required for non-Westlaw subscribers, and a fee is imposed for each document retrieved.
Lexis-Nexis by Credit Card allows any Lexis subscriber or credit card holder to retrieve cases and statutes over the Internet. Registration is required for non-Lexis subscribers, and a fee is imposed for printed or downloaded documents.
Reference Services
The reference staff is available from 8am - 9pm Monday through Thursday, 8am - 5pm on Friday, and 1pm - 9pm on Sunday to assist you with questions regarding the services and facilities of the Library. The staff may not, however, provide legal advice or interpretation of the law.
You may contact a reference librarian by calling (315) 443-9572, or by completing a Reference Query Form.
Response Time
We will respond to questions received Sunday - Thursday, 8am - 7pm within 24 hours. We will respond to questions received at any other time on the following business day.
Scope of Service
Reference staff will respond to ready reference questions, such as verifying a case or statute citation, locating a directory listing, or checking library holdings. They will also direct patrons to relevant electronic or print resources and offer guidance on their use. For complex research questions, you may need to schedule an appointment with a subject specialist.
Referrals
If reference staff and/or our library resources are not able to adequately address a question, patrons may be referred to another library or resource.
