Kevin Saunders received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from St. John Fisher College in 1993 and Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1997.  He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester’s Simon Graduate School of Business in 2007.

Mr. Saunders is an Associate in the Products Liability group at Nixon Peabody, LLP in Rochester, NY.  He concentrates his practice on commercial and products liability litigation, including class action defense, utility company defense, personal injury defense, and complex business disputes in both federal and state courts. Additionally, he defends criminal matters and has represented clients under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A current member of the Marine Corps Reserves, Mr. Saunders most recently served as Commanding Officer, Alpha Company, Antiterrorism Battalion, 4th Marine Division, in Rochester, NY. From March to October 2009, he was activated in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where his infantry company was attached to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines in the al Anbar Province of Iraq. He has been in the Marine Corps since 1991, first as an enlisted Marine with 8th Tank Battalion and then as an officer, where he served as a federal prosecutor and as a legal advisor to two Marine Corps commands. As a JAG attorney, Mr. Saunders gained significant experience in both motion and trial practice. Additionally, during that time, Mr. Saunders was an adjunct faculty member at Campbell University and the University of Rochester.

In addition to his military service, Mr. Saunders is part of One Team, One Fight (1T1F).  This partnership of colleges, universities, businesses, and veteran service organizations in the Greater Rochester Region ensures that veterans have access to the education and training necessary to enter and succeed in the civilian workforce.  He has published and presented numerous times on a variety of subjects including e-discovery and civil rights litigation. In 2011, Mr. Saunders was recognized by the United States District Court for the Western District of New York for his pro bono efforts. According to Chief Judge William Skretny, the award recognizes “distinguished work representing indigent civil litigants, often in civil rights cases,” along with “extraordinary commitment, dedication, skill and professionalism in ensuring equal access to justice for all.”

Mr. Saunders, his wife, Julie, and two daughters live in Victor, NY.
