Externships 10 Conference
Externships X “20/20 Vision for the Future” will be held March 26-29, 2020 at Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, NY.
Externships 10 provides the opportunity to look ahead at the role of externships in law school curriculum. Expanding international programs, ever evolving technology, and on-line degree programs are changing how and where legal education is delivered. At the same time, courts, bar examiners and bar associations are increasing the focus on experiential learning as part of the JD experience. This conference provides the opportunity to build on the Externships 9 theme “Coming of Age” by exploring the role of externships in a rapidly changing world.
Syracuse University’s campus is centrally located near downtown Syracuse businesses, hotels, and restaurants, and it is close to two interstate highways, a regional transportation hub, and a newly renovated airport. Opened in 2014, Dineen Hall—home to the College of Law—is a state-of-the-art academic facility listed among the 50 “most impressive law school buildings in the world” by Best Choice Schools.
The city of Syracuse is a vibrant regional and cultural center. Several hotels serve the University and downtown area, including the Sheraton Syracuse University on campus. In all, visitsyracuse.com lists more than 7,000 hotel rooms in the downtown and greater Syracuse area. In addition to being served by Syracuse Hancock Airport, interstates 81 and 90, and a bus/train hub, Syracuse is well-served by taxi firms, Uber and Lyft, and bus company Centro. In fact, the University and Dineen Hall are connected to downtown by the Connective Corridor, a free bus loop with more than 70 stops.
We look forward to welcoming you to Syracuse for Externships 10.

The east-west New York State Thruway, I-90, crosses I-81 just north of Syracuse. Interstate 690 (I-690), another major east-west highway, crosses I-81 in the downtown area.
The airport serving the Syracuse metropolitan area is Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Call individual airlines for flight information. There is no general airport shuttle service that goes directly to and from the airport (though many hotels have shuttles). Students who need to reach the airport can do so by calling a taxi service. For return trips to campus, there is a taxi service that leaves the airport. NOTE: The airport will be under major renovation during 2018 and 2019 so allow extra time when planning travel.
The William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) houses both the train and bus station. Amtrak, Greyhound, Trailways, and Megabus have services from Syracuse. Centro public buses run from campus to the Regional Transportation Center on a regular basis.
