Reserve Policies

The Reference/Reserves Room contains College of Law course reserves, study aids, DVDs and other media, and frequently used library print materials such as hornbooks and nutshells.  Students are encouraged to use the online Study Aids packages.  See our Study Aids webpage or the drop down menu on our home page.

To find a law course reserve item, please use the Online Catalog Course Reserve search form.  If you need to view a DVD or other media in the library, please bring it to the Circulation Desk for check out and to receive headphones (if needed) and directions to the nearest available equipment.  For more information about Reserves, please inquire at the Circulation Desk.

If you wish to remove items from the Reference/Reserves Room, please charge them out at the Circulation Desk with a valid Syracuse University ID.

Loan periods for law students are as follows:

    Course Reserve items – two hours
    DVDs, VHS & other media – one week
    All other reserve materials, such as hornbooks and study guides – one week 

During the month leading up to finals, all one week Reserves loans will be changed to a two hour loan period to ensure equal availability to all students.

Reserve materials that are checked out less than two hours before closing must be returned within the first hour of opening the next day.

Please return Reserve materials promptly so that others may use them. Library staff will be monitoring late returns using our online circulation system.

Please Note: The overdue fine for audio and videotapes is $1 per day per item, up to a maximum of $15 per item. If items are more than 40 days overdue, a replacement fee will be added.
