The College of Law will hold its seventh VALOR Day event on Saturday, September 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dineen Hall, 950 Irving Avenue, Syracuse. Local attorneys and professionals will provide free legal, financial, career, and counseling services for veterans, active duty service members and their immediate families. Conceived by College of Law students, VALOR (Veterans’ Advocacy, Law and Outreach) Day is one of the many ways students give back to the community and those who serve our country.More»

Eleven students began their immersion in the nation’s capital on Monday in DCEx, one of the College of Law’s externship programs. While working full-time at highly competitive placements, students attend seminars featuring guest lectures by distinguished alumni and connect with alumni and D.C. professionals at networking events.
This fall’s placements include the Federal Communications Commission, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service, Department of Defense (The Pentagon), Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council, Senator Tammy Duckworth, House Judiciary Committee Democratic Staff, the Honorable Dennis L. Phillips L’81, the Honorable J. Jeremiah Mahoney L’69, Perseus Strategies LLC, and Sanford Heisler LLP.
Students will hear from distinguished guest lecturers Tara Helfman, Senior Counsel, U.S. DOJ, Civil Rights Division; Joseph Di Scipio L’95, Senior VP, Legal and FCC Compliance, Fox Television Stations; Kevin Minsky L’94, Associate General Counsel, Booz Allen Hamilton Inc.; the Honorable Patrick J.
